Hearing the city lord's name, Zaid didn't look up. With a bitter smile, he said, "Is it my time already?"
Zaid slowly lifted his head. First, he saw Cairo, who had an awkward smile on his face. Then, he looked up further and saw Isaac standing outside the cell door.
Zaid looked at Isaac, and the two of them locked eyes.
Isaac noticed that Zaid, now with half of his hair turned gray and his face covered in stubble, no longer had the charisma he once did. This made Isaac frown tightly.
A flash of anger quickly passed through Zaid‘s eyes, but his face soon showed a helpless, bitter smile.
