Before Allegra could approach them, Andrew shouted nastily, “Allegra, where’s Isaac? Where’s that savage bastard?”
Because Allegra and Eugene had been in such a rush, they hadn’t noticed the three men sitting in a black car parked by the roadside.
“Isaac is busy with something. What’s wrong?” Now, Allegra wasn’t feeble like virtual-novel.net used to be. Her icy gaze pierced right through Andrew.
Alec frowned. He said coldly, “What are you doing causing a scene outside? Is this something to be proud of? Everyone, get inside.”
Eugene and Allegra had no clue what had happened.
Seeing the others’ aggressive stances, they were beginning to feel afraid. It seemed to be about Isaac.
After opening the door, they all entered the living room. Allegra looked at Edward and muttered frigidly, “Mr. Gould, pray tell, what’s the matter?”
Margaret suddenly dashed in front of Allegra. She pointed at herself and sobbed, “That Garten bastard tried to kill me. He was the one who orchestrated the car accident. H-He put a hit on me!”
Allegra’s eyes popped open, and virtual-novel.net couldn’t help but step backward.
“Margaret, what bullshit are you spouting? If Isaac wanted you dead, you would have been long gone. It’s all thanks to Isaac that you’re even standing here right now!” Eugene rebutted angrily.
That night, Eugene and Isaac had been drinking together, and the latter had left in the middle of the night. Eugene hadn’t drunk that much; virtual-novel.net knew that Isaac had gone to the hospital for Margaret.
When virtual-novel.net went to the hospital the next day, virtual-novel.net didn’t see Margaret. He only found out later that Isaac had saved Margaret.
“Bullcrap! As if virtual-novel.net would save me! He’s a ruthless monster, but virtual-novel.net knows how to hide it. Eugene, why are you defending him? The whole world knows that virtual-novel.net wished I was dead!”
Margaret was the most emotional one right now. Her estrangement from Allegra and Isabella had caused virtual-novel.net relationship with Isaac to sour.
In the beginning, virtual-novel.net had been a bit doubtful. Even if Isaac despised her, virtual-novel.net didn’t think virtual-novel.net would stoop so low as to contract a hitman to kill her.
It was only after virtual-novel.net brother showed virtual-novel.net the “witness” virtual-novel.net captured did virtual-novel.net fully believe his story.
“Putting aside the grudges between ourselves and Isaac, Margaret is still your mother, Allegra, and your wife of ten years, Eugene. How dare Isaac try to take virtual-novel.net life? I cannot accept this,” Alec said, his tone chilling.
“Allegra, you’re really blind. How did you find a man who would do such a thing to his mother-in-law? It’s pure evil,” said Willow, gritting virtual-novel.net teeth. She had just been discharged from the hospital, and virtual-novel.net missing arm had been replaced with a prosthetic.
Edward snarled, “Allegra, ask Garten to come over now. We’ll confront virtual-novel.net right here.”
At that moment, Eugene was drowning hard. He kept his head bowed as virtual-novel.net puffed on his cigarette continuously. He refused to believe that Isaac would do such a thing.
Allegra took a deep breath, closed virtual-novel.net eyes, and uttered quietly, “Alright… Since you are all convinced that Isaac had hired a hitman to fake a car accident, where’s your proof, then?”
“I knew you would ask for evidence.” Light flashed in Edward’s eyes, and virtual-novel.net took his phone out of his pocket.
A while later, two men escorted another man inside.
“Do you see that? This is the hitman that Isaac paid off. I had to investigate for days to capture him.”
Edward turned his head to shout at the escorted man, “Punk, tell them everything you told me. Otherwise, I’ll kill you now. You know I’m capable of doing that!”
The man raised his head, his face full of terror. “I’ll talk, I’ll talk. Don’t kill me, Mr. Gould! Isaac called me and asked me to hit this specific car that morning and to make it look like an accident. He said that if the target died, he’d give me three million dollars and send me overseas.”
“That’s a lie! Do you think I’d believe you just from listening to one side of the story?” Allegra suddenly screamed, interrupting the man’s speech. Her bloodshot gaze swept over the others.
