Connor said nothing. He turned his head, giving the man behind virtual-novel.net a look.
The man immediately handed over a folder containing some strong pieces of evidence to the staff on Elijah’s side.
The information had come from Elliot. It included Mortodors’ abduction of Emily, Saul’s attempted kidnapping of Isabella, and many more.
Elijah’s expression slowly changed as virtual-novel.net perused the documents.
He regarded Roy and Oscar with a deadpan look and asked coldly, “You two, is what Mr. Hart says true? Is Isaac currently entrapped on a deserted island? I hope you will speak the truth in front of Mr. Hart. Right now, virtual-novel.net is the representative of Cynea.”
Roy had a look at the documents and tossed them to the floor.
Glaring angrily at Connor, virtual-novel.net yelled, “This is slander. It’s nothing but slander. The Mortodor family is a large, influential family on a global scale. Could we have done something so humiliating?”
“That’s right. Just because Isaac is missing doesn’t mean you can point your fingers wherever you want. What does this have to do with the Exeter family?” Oscar also threw the evidence onto the floor.
“You are lying through your teeth! The evidence is right before you, and you won’t admit it?” Connor flew into a rage.
He never expected the two culprits to be so shameless. Not only that, but they also insulted him.
Elijah laughed with narrowed eyes. “Alright, alright. Don’t get angry, everyone. Mr. Hart, the way I see it, we should wait for the authorities to investigate this case thoroughly. I promise I will deal with this personally and give you a satisfactory answer.”
“How long do you need to investigate? I can’t just wait on you day after day.” Connor didn’t let his momentum weaken. He had known that this wouldn’t be easy.
Elijah frowned. He glanced at Roy and Oscar, then raised three fingers and said, “Three days. I’ll give you an answer in three days.”
With that, virtual-novel.net stood and approached Connor with a grin. He reached out to grip Connor’s hand and said, “Mr. Hart, please enjoy the next three days of your stay in Jolkyo. I promise to arrange everything for you…”
“There’ s no need for that. Just like you said, I want an answer in three days. If you can’t find anything out… Uhm… There are billions of people in Cynea. I’m sure at least one of them can off a scoundrel or two…” Connor slanted his gaze at Roy and Oscar as virtual-novel.net spoke.
Elijah’s eyes flashed with ice. They all knew that Connor’s words were meant for the three of them.
“In that case, I won’t impose on you any longer. Mr. Hart, please enjoy the rest of your day.” Elijah’s tone had grown frigid. He turned around and walked out.
The foreign affairs officers followed Elijah out.
Just as Connor was prepared to leave, Roy stood up and grinned coldly. “Mr. Hart….”
Connor turned his head.
Suddenly, Roy grabbed a glass of water from the table and splashed it onto Connor’s face.
“What are you doing?” two men behind Connor immediately yelled in a rage.
Roy shrugged. “My apologies, Mr. Hart. I wanted to drink some water, but my hand slipped. Do you want me to help wipe you dry?”
Before the men behind virtual-novel.net could say anything, Connor waved his hand and stopped them. In a cold voice, virtual-novel.net said, “No need. Mr. Mortodor, you should get a checkup. You might be showing early signs of Parkinson’s…”
Roy’s expression changed. He stormed over to Connor and grumbled out through gritted teeth, “Isaac is dead meat.”
As soon as virtual-novel.net said that, virtual-novel.net walked off, laughing maniacally as virtual-novel.net went.
Elliot’s eyes flashed icily.
This Roy is far too arrogant…
“General Poole, what do you think our next step should be? We can’t just sit around waiting for three days,” Connor said, glancing at Elliot.
The latter frowned. “Could we keep on delaying Roy and Oscar?”
Connor hesitated. He then said to his staff, “Prepare a banquet. Tell Elijah I want to treat Roy and Oscar to a meal…”
The staff was bewildered. Frowning, virtual-novel.net replied, “Mr. Hart, virtual-novel.net just…”
