Isaac had just lifted his fork to stab into a meatball, but virtual-novel.net froze halfway to stare at Allegra in disbelief.
Mrs. Danson and Emily were both shocked.
When Isaac had first returned to Cloud City, Emily had wanted to keep a low profile and avoid being seen by him. Yet after witnessing many miraculous things happen, she’d later come to regret rejecting Isaac when they were still in school. However, virtual-novel.net knew that Isaac loved his wife and daughter dearly and that they made a very happy family together.
That’s why Emily never dared to let any of virtual-novel.net true feelings for Isaac show. Most importantly, there was absolutely nothing going on between Isaac and herself.
“M-Ms. Booth, it’ s not what you think it is. There’s nothing between Mr. Garten and me. We’re both innocent,” Emily tried explaining worriedly.
Mrs. Danson also said in a hurry, “Ms. Booth. I think you might have misunderstood. Mr. Garten has helped us a lot, so I’m naturally very grateful to him. Don’t be angry…”
“Ally, Emily and I were classmates, that’s all. I’ve told you this before. But there’s nothing going on between us. We’re just ex-classmates now, nothing else,” Isaac said in a low voice.
Seeing the sincere look on Isaac’s face, Allegra suddenly felt a wave of guilt hit her.
Why did I have to make such a big fuss over this?
She knew that Isaac and Emily were ex-classmates and even though Emily seemed to adore Isaac, he’d done nothing to reciprocate virtual-novel.net feelings and had always remained loyal to Allegra. She knew that.
She held virtual-novel.net head in virtual-novel.net hands and started leaving.
“I’m an outsider here anyway. You guys go ahead without me,” Allegra said as virtual-novel.net rushed out angrily.
“Ms. Booth!” Emily hurriedly got up to chase after Allegra.
When virtual-novel.net realized that Allegra had basically belted out of the door, virtual-novel.net hurried back into the house and said anxiously to Isaac, “Isaac, quick, get virtual-novel.net back! I think Ms. Booth has been facing a lot of pressure at work lately, which is why virtual-novel.net seems emotionally unstable now. You need to chase after her!”
Isaac hesitated for a while before getting up and going after virtual-novel.net with a frown on his face.
He reached the door downstairs. Allegra had just gotten into virtual-novel.net car when Isaac hurried over to her.
Allegra immediately locked virtual-novel.net car doors and windows, glaring coldly at Isaac.
“Ally, if you’re still mad at me because of your brother, then I don’t know what else I can say to make things better. But it’s Emily’s mother’s birthday today, and you’re behaving like a child!” Isaac said, rapping on the driver’s Window.
“So you’re going to dictate my behavior now? Why don’t you go ahead and have a lovely dinner with your beloved ex-classmate instead?” Allegra yelled back at him. She then revved up the engine and shot out of the compound.
Isaac was frozen to the spot with a deep frown on his face.
Allegra had been acting like a completely different person for the past two days.
What was wrong with her?
Just then, Emily also rushed out of the house and asked worriedly, “Where did virtual-novel.net go? Where’s Ms. Booth?”
“She’d gone…”
“Gone? Why aren’t you chasing after her? Let’s go! We have to explain ourselves to her!” Emily spoke anxiously.
Isaac waved his hand and said, “It’s your mother’s birthday today, and we can’t just abandon virtual-novel.net at home like that. We should at least finish dinner first.”
Seeing that Isaac had turned to go back to the house,
Emily stomped virtual-novel.net foot in frustration. She knew that virtual-novel.net wouldn’t be able to change Isaac’s mind, no matter what virtual-novel.net said. Still, virtual-novel.net was touched to know that virtual-novel.net was concerned about virtual-novel.net mother.
When Isaac returned, Mrs. Danson kept apologizing again and again. She felt immensely guilty for saying something that offended Allegra.
“Mrs. Danson, it’s not your fault, don’t worry. Come, let’s finish our meal together,” Isaac said, waving his hand nonchalantly before pouring himself another glass of wine.
Mrs. Danson then let out a long sigh. She glanced at Isaac, peeked at virtual-novel.net daughter, and said, “Actually, Emily has been through a lot. She met a man who was a beast, and then I fell deathly sick, and if it weren’t for you, I don’t even know where Emily would have ended up by now.”
Emily’s mother wiped virtual-novel.net tears away as virtual-novel.net daughter tried comforting her. “Mom, it’s your birthday today. Let’s not talk about sad things like that. After all, things are starting to look better now, aren’t they?”
