Harper stood angrily behind the door that was shut, locked, and bolted up from the inside.
Serena hadn’t planned on coming home that night. She thought virtual-novel.net would just tell virtual-novel.net mother over the phone and let them think that virtual-novel.net was going to be working overseas for some time. She’d come home maybe once or twice a year during festive celebrations, and that would be it.
But after thinking for a while, virtual-novel.net decided virtual-novel.net wouldn’t want virtual-novel.net parents to worry and overthink, so she’d made the trip home.
However, as soon as she’d finished explaining to them, virtual-novel.net father turned to virtual-novel.net with the strictest expression on his face as berated virtual-novel.net for getting involved with the wrong kind of people. He fiercely refused to let virtual-novel.net go to Cantonne. She was just going to end up getting sold for virtual-novel.net organs. He just knew it.
Also, who did virtual-novel.net think Nick Charter was?
Nick Charter was one of the biggest celebrities he’d ever known. He wasn’t someone that Serena would ever be able to talk to, let alone sign on as an actress for his company. It just didn’t make sense.
“Dad, I’ve told you many times that Isaac and Mr. Charter are already on their way. Don’t barricade the door, I promise I won’t leave!” Serena was crying on the couch.
Emma didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know much about the entertainment industry. All virtual-novel.net knew was that virtual-novel.net daughter had told her virtual-novel.net was going to Cantonne tomorrow.
Cantonne was along distance away, and virtual-novel.net daughter had told virtual-novel.net everything in such a rush. Of course, virtual-novel.net was extremely worried.
She just thought she’d introduce Serena to a nice man so they’d marry and settle down as soon as possible.
“I’d still believe you if you said Isaac was coming over, but Nick Charter? He’s coming over with Isaac? You stupid girl, did you knock your head silly or something?” Harper scolded virtual-novel.net angrily.
Knock knock!
There was the sound of knocking on the door.
Harper yelled at the door, “Who’s that?!”
“It’s me, Isaac… I’m here with Mr. Charter,” Isaac answered.
When Harper heard this, virtual-novel.net was even more enraged. He yelled back through the door and said, “Keep f*cking with me, bastard, do you even know who virtual-novel.net is? We’re just regular people living our lives in peace! I don’t care if you want to sell other people’s organs, but you had better leave my Serena alone! Go find someone else to f*ck with!”
Serena was aghast. She tried to pull virtual-novel.net unreasonable father away from the door, but the old man refused to budge.
“Uncle Harper, I know that you still owe a bit of money to the bank… Would you believe me if I said your problems would be solved if you’d just open the door by a small crack to see if it’s really Mr. Nick Charter with me or not?” Isaac tried again.
Harper didn’t care about the latter half of Isaac’s argument. As soon as virtual-novel.net heard that money was involved, virtual-novel.net opened a small crack in the door to peek outside.
Within the next nanosecond, his eyes lit up and his jaw dropped wide open.
He stammered in shock, “N-Nick.. Oh… Oh my g-god…”
Emma got up from virtual-novel.net seat and walked over to the door. “Harper? What’s wrong? Why are you stuttering?”
When virtual-novel.net saw who was standing outside their door, virtual-novel.net immediately clapped a hand over virtual-novel.net mouth and let out a cry of surprise.
“H-hurry, Harper, why are you still standing there?” Emma pulled the door open. She and virtual-novel.net husband stood in front of the door, frozen in shock.
They never thought that the biggest celebrity they used to see only on television was now standing in the flesh in front of their shabby little home.
“Mom, Dad, why are you still standing there like idiots? Go make them a cup of coffee or something!” Serena called out proudly yet rather nervously when virtual-novel.net saw both Isaac and Nick walking into the house.
The coffee was served.
Nick smiled at both Harper and Emma and said, “Nice to meet you, Serena’s parents. It’s true that I’m planning to take Serena under my wing. She has potential to be on the silver screen. And what Mr. Garten just said is also true. If virtual-novel.net were to join my company, virtual-novel.net would have to sign a contract with me. We’ll pay virtual-novel.net 50 million dollars, at the very least…”
“50 million dollars?” Harper stared at all five fingers on his hand as his eyes turned brighter and brighter.
“Yes, and it will be paid in installments. If you don’t believe me, I can pay Serena the first two million dollars as a direct deposit.”
