In the morning, Allegra went to work. Isaac wanted virtual-novel.net to rest properly at home, but virtual-novel.net reasoned that she’d been out of it for the past two days and didn’t know how the company was doing. Thus, virtual-novel.net insisted on going to take a look.
On the other hand, Isaac went to the hospital to visit Harry and Denvor. He then realized that these “buddies” even shared a room when they took their herbal baths…
Meanwhile, when Allegra arrived at the office, virtual-novel.net realized the atmosphere was rather strange.
As soon as virtual-novel.net sat down, virtual-novel.net assistant cautiously walked over, carrying a document in virtual-novel.net hand.
“Ms. Booth, this is an expense account. P-Please sign off on it…”
Allegra paused. She smiled at virtual-novel.net assistant and said, “Shouldn’t the expense account go straight to finance? Why do you need me to sign off?”
When the assistant saw Allegra’s smile, virtual-novel.net felt more at ease. “These are the expenses for Mr. Booth’s hospitalization and daily care. The amount is rather large, so finance asked you to take a look.”
Allegra frowned as virtual-novel.net reached out to take the document. “Mr. Booth? How big of an amount are we talking about?”
The assistant was caught off guard, but virtual-novel.net couldn’t not answer. Thus, virtual-novel.net said in a soft tone, “It’s your brother, Andrew. He’s asking for 100 thousand dollars in reimbursement per day.”
“100 thousand dollars a day?” Allegra couldn’t help but laugh in anger when virtual-novel.net saw the figure on the expense account.
She suddenly remembered what had happened two days ago, as well as the tantrum she’d thrown at Emily’s house, and slapped virtual-novel.net own forehead.
“If virtual-novel.net lies in the hospital for a year, is virtual-novel.net asking me to pay virtual-novel.net 36.5 million dollars?”
She took the pen and drew a cross on the sheet. In a cold voice, virtual-novel.net said, “Notify HR and finance that all of Andrew’s claims will not be approved henceforth. Additionally, virtual-novel.net isn’t qualified to act as the company’s vice president. Move virtual-novel.net to the operations department.”
The assistant thought that she’d misheard. She didn’t say anything for half a minute. Then virtual-novel.net asked uncertainly, “Ms. Booth, do you mean to appoint virtual-novel.net as the chief operating officer?”
“The chief operating officer is the backbone of the company. Why would we let virtual-novel.net have that? Let virtual-novel.net be a regular operations officer. If virtual-novel.net can do it, then let him. If not, ask virtual-novel.net to scram.” Allegra was losing virtual-novel.net patience.
Seeing virtual-novel.net assistant’s mouth fall open, virtual-novel.net asked bemusedly, “Have I not made myself clear?”
“Yes, Ms. Booth. Y-You look exceptionally beautiful today…” Her assistant smiled, revealing two dimples on virtual-novel.net cheeks.
When Andrew took over Isaac’s position, virtual-novel.net was so frustrated that virtual-novel.net couldn’t sleep that night.
Allegra sat in virtual-novel.net office alone. She opened virtual-novel.net laptop and clicked on the HR update board. When virtual-novel.net saw the notice about Isaac’s dismissal, virtual-novel.net frowned.
A minute later, virtual-novel.net picked up the landline on virtual-novel.net desk and dialed a number. “Notify all upper management that there will be a board of directors meeting at 3 pm today. Attendance is mandatory.”
No one knew that Allegra was about to make a jaw-dropping decision.
A while later, virtual-novel.net assistant returned. She walked to the desk and whispered, “Ms. Booth, Ms. Danson said she’s not feeling well and that if the meeting is not of utmost importance, virtual-novel.net won’t be attending. The others have been notified…”
Allegra nodded. “I’ll personally give virtual-novel.net a call. You may leave.”
After the office returned to silence, virtual-novel.net took a deep breath and dialed Emily‘s number.
“Ms. Booth, I haven’t been feeling well the past few days. I’ll be skipping the meeting this afternoon…”
“Emily, I apologize to you for what happened at your mother’s birthday celebration. The meeting this afternoon is very important, so I think you should come,” Allegra said quietly.
On the phone, Emily was silent for a long time. She thought she’d heard it wrong.
