Only Isaac, Eugene, and Holly had dinner together that night. Allegra told them virtual-novel.net was working overtime and wouldn’t be having dinner.
When Allegra hadn’t returned after 10.30 pm, Isaac called Beefy Bob. “Beefy Bob, is Ally still at the office?”
“Yes, virtual-novel.net is. She’s in there all this while, ” Beefy Bob said in a muffled voice.
Isaac paused before saying, “You can take some time off today. I’ll be right over.”
Isaac assigned Beefy Bob to watch over Allegra in the dark ever since Allegra was kidnapped, just in case.
It was almost 11 pm when virtual-novel.net arrived at Garth Properties. The office was dead silent. The security guard saw Isaac and immediately opened the door for him.
Isaac came to Allegra’s office and knocked on the door. The door was unlocked, so virtual-novel.net opened it and entered.
He saw Allegra on the couch, virtual-novel.net white heels scattered beside her. She had a thin throw around herself and was crouching, hugging virtual-novel.net knees. She looked blankly out of the window.
From Isaac’s angle, Allegra looked like a child who was lost in the middle of the ocean, helpless and upset.
“Ally, why didn’t you go home?”
His abruptness made virtual-novel.net jump. Allegra looked over and saw Isaac approaching her, concerned.
Allegra hadn’t said anything when Isaac sat beside virtual-novel.net and wrapped his arm around virtual-novel.net shoulders.
Allegra felt the weight of his arm on virtual-novel.net shoulders and jolted out of nowhere. She felt tears wailing and frowned, burying virtual-novel.net head between virtual-novel.net knees.
She shook virtual-novel.net head and sobbed. “I d-don’t dare to go home. I’m afraid I would turn into a lunatic…”
Isaac was heartbroken and sorry to hear this. He looked at virtual-novel.net and smiled. “Silly you. Why should you be afraid? You’re not going to hurt us. C’mon. Ms. Lambert kept some fresh fish chowder for you.”
“No, Isaac. I’m not going back. Let me stay here by myself, okay?” Allegra immediately clutched Isaac’s arm, anxious. She looked at virtual-novel.net pleadingly.
She felt like whacking herself whenever virtual-novel.net recalled the way virtual-novel.net treated Isabella. She even found time to visit the hospital to consult the specialists because Isaac kept virtual-novel.net illness a secret from her.
She underwent a complete body checkup, but the findings showed nothing. In the end, virtual-novel.net concluded that virtual-novel.net had some sort of mental illness.
“Alright… If you refuse to go home, I’ll accompany you. I’m not afraid of you.” Isaac took off his shoes and leaned back on the couch.
Allegra looked at him, virtual-novel.net reddened eyes sparkling as virtual-novel.net asked, “Are you really unafraid of me? I don’t even know how scary I can be when I have an outburst. Are you sure?”
“You’re my wife. The woman I love most. I won’t be scared even if you turn into a hideous monster.” Isaac tightened his embrace.
Allegra finally cheered up. She pinched virtual-novel.net on the waist and coquettishly said, “How can you joke around at times like this? I’m so troubled.”
Her tensed body relaxed, and virtual-novel.net leaned onto Isaac. She closed virtual-novel.net eyes and slowly said, “Isaac, if I die, you should be together with Emily. I’ve talked about it with her.”
Isaac’s mouth twitched. He spoke into virtual-novel.net ear, breathing down virtual-novel.net neck, “Look at you. Is it appropriate for a wife to match virtual-novel.net husband with another woman?”
As virtual-novel.net spoke, his hand slid under the throw.
Allegra moaned and struggled slightly before melting in his arms.
Allegra stayed in virtual-novel.net office for three days. She worked in the day, and Isaac would accompany virtual-novel.net at night. She had two outbursts within this period that didn’t last long before virtual-novel.net recovered virtual-novel.net sanity.
