“Kneel!” Brody roared at Rory.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became so tense that it felt hard to breathe.
Everyone watched in shock as Brody picked up a heavy chair and slammed it into Rory’s legs, breaking them and causing Rory to howl in pain.
They’d seen fathers beat their sons, but they’d never seen something this cruel. Only a father pushed to the edge of despair could do something as ruthless as breaking his own son’s legs.
Rory rolled on the ground, wailing. Celeste knelt beside virtual-novel.net son, sobbing uncontrollably.
She didn’t dare to reproach virtual-novel.net husband or even say anything. Brody had already warned virtual-novel.net about how powerful this Mr. Garten was, virtual-novel.net was someone who even had connections to the top leaders of Southland!
“Mr. Garten, I’ve broken this little asshole’s legs, and I promise to leave Cloud City with my family, never to return. I-Is that amenable to you?” Brody once again knelt before Isaac, his face ashen.
“What about the 100 thousand dollars that virtual-novel.net owes? Oh, it’s probably more with interest.” Isaac lit a cigarette, unruffled.
Brody turned to Barry and said quietly, “I’m sorry, sir… I apologize on my son’s behalf… We still have some shares in this hotel, can I give them to you as repayment? I’ll get a share transfer form immediately.”
Emily couldn’t help but gasp. Even if it was only ten percent of shares, it would still be over a million dollars for this four-star hotel. Not to mention, the Mandela family was said to be the largest shareholder.
After the dust settled, Isaac waved his hand, and Brody and his wife quickly left with the injured Rory.
Although they’d lost their company and positions, Brody considered his family lucky to have avoided a bigger disaster. At least they were still alive.
Daniel, who’d been knocked unconscious earlier, had already woken up. However, he’d immediately closed his eyes and played possum when virtual-novel.net witnessed Brody’s rage. Only at the very end did virtual-novel.net stand up, as pale as a sheet.
Trembling, virtual-novel.net approached Isaac, forcing a smile even uglier than a scowl, and said, “I-Isaac, just now I…”
“Get lost… Never let me set eyes on you again!” Isaac shouted coldly.
Daniel, Jasmine, and the other classmates who’d mocked Isaac ran out of the room so quickly that it was as if they had oiled their feet.
“I-Isaac, what are you up to these days?” Barry finally came to his senses. He was even beginning to regard Isaac with a look of panic.
“Haha, that’s not important. Come, I’ll follow you to your hometown, I haven’t been there in over ten years. Let’s go save your son first!” Isaac patted Barry’s shoulder with a smile.
The moment virtual-novel.net thought about his son, Barry grew agitated. He got out of there faster than Isaac.
Emily gritted virtual-novel.net teeth, turned around, and followed them out.
Watching Isaac’s broad back, virtual-novel.net felt a little conflicted. She’d guessed that Rory would be in trouble, but virtual-novel.net hadn’t thought that the entire Mandela family would get dragged down with virtual-novel.net to the point where they’d have to leave Cloud City and never return.
Emily had struggled every step of the way in virtual-novel.net life. She couldn’t imagine how powerful and influential Isaac was to have been able to achieve that in under an hour.
As they reached downstairs, Isaac asked them to wait a while. One cigarette later, Harry emerged from a cab and bolted over urgently. With Harry in tow, they got in the car and left.
Barry’s hometown was at the border between Cloud City and River City, below the valley to the north of Mt. Equest. It was rather isolated and impoverished.
Back when they were younger, Barry’s parents had worked in Cloud City, which was how virtual-novel.net had the chance to become Isaac’s classmate and best friend.
On the way there, Barry talked about some things that had happened back in the day. After graduating from university, he’d gotten into a good unit at the Cloud City Daily Newspaper Company. It was also then that virtual-novel.net got to know his ex-wife, Lydia Samson.
However, the good days didn’t last. Not long after Isaac got into trouble, he’d offended one of the contacts in his unit. Not only did virtual-novel.net get the daylights beaten out of him, but he’d also been fired straightaway.
