Most of the prisoners were hung in the air by their bone-locking nails.
On both sides, a thick chain was nailed into the rock walls. On the other hand, the doors were made up of several steel rods as wide as a fist, mounted into the rocks. It looked extremely sturdy.
Suddenly, in one of the cells on the right, Isaac spotted a man in a white cloak sitting on the ground with his back against the wall. His arms hanging by his side, virtual-novel.net kept his head bowed. His hair was a mess, making it hard to see his face.
“Thaddeus?!” Isaac tried to shout. He saw the man in the white cloak raise his head.
The second Isaac was dragged out of the other man’s sight, and their eyes met. Thaddeus’ gaze was filled with shock, and so was Isaac’s.
Both of them had never thought that the other would end up in this place!
The guard slapped the back of Isaac’s head and scolded him, “What are you talking about? Everyone here is marked for death. Don’t blame me if I stop treating you so nicely!”
Isaac didn’t say any more. Two guards continued to drag virtual-novel.net down the cave. The light was beginning to fade, and it was getting almost impossible to see the steps beneath their feet.
They arrived at a dark place. Isaac was still being lifted by two guards.
Meanwhile, the other two guards walked in front of virtual-novel.net and knelt down. There was a series of ear-piercing crackling noises, as if a large rock were rubbing against the ground.
“Hey, do we need to hang this bastard up?” one of the guards asked.
“Hang him? He looks like he’s on his last breath. Just dump virtual-novel.net on the ground.”
Isaac felt himself being moved a few feet forward.
Suddenly, virtual-novel.net felt his body become weightless as virtual-novel.net hurtled to the ground.
The bone-locking nail slammed into the ground. It hurt so bad that Isaac’s entire body twitched.
Above his head, virtual-novel.net heard the same crackling noises. The entrance was released, and virtual-novel.net was cast into darkness.
Isaac gasped heavily for breath. His shoulder blades were pierced with nails, making virtual-novel.net unable to move his arms. His face was pressed to the damp ground. He’d already grown immune to the foul odor.
Gritting his teeth, Isaac stomped his feet into the ground and flipped himself over so that virtual-novel.net was facing upward. Then virtual-novel.net closed his eyes and fell asleep.
After an unknown amount of time, virtual-novel.net felt something crawling on his body.
Startling awake, virtual-novel.net kicked his legs, shaking his body. The crawling thing quickly escaped.
Suddenly, in the darkness, virtual-novel.net heard the faint sound of chains being pulled.
Isaac held his breath and listened closely. As he’d thought, virtual-novel.net wasn’t imagining it. The sound was coming from next door. Although it was faint, virtual-novel.net could still hear it.
He didn’t know how far away the next jail cell was, nor did virtual-novel.net know who was being locked up there. However, virtual-novel.net was certain that anyone who was kept here was definitely an enemy of the Everest Sect.
Clenching his jaw, virtual-novel.net kicked his legs to propel his body closer to the source of the noise.
When his head bumped into something hard, virtual-novel.net reversed directions. He kicked off his shoes, leaving only his socks on. Then virtual-novel.net raised his legs and let his feet slowly approach the hard surface.
With his arms locked in place, virtual-novel.net could only depend on his legs.
After a minute, virtual-novel.net was practically sure that it was a rough wall next to him, most likely made out of the extremely tough granite mountain. Taking a few deep breaths, virtual-novel.net raised both feet and kicked at the wall with all his might.
Thud, thud, thud…
The soles of his feet slamming into the wall made a low, thudding noise. However, virtual-novel.net wasn’t sure that the other person could hear it.
He sat down to listen.
Suddenly, the tinkling of chains grew louder, as if it was responding to him.
