“Evie, didn’t you sleep well last night? Your dark circles look pretty bad,” Allegra greeted Evie in the morning.
After virtual-novel.net was taken away by the authorities last night, Evie hadn’t told Isaac anything about it and even helped virtual-novel.net cover it up, so Allegra was grateful to virtual-novel.net for that.
Evie glared at the both of them and said, “Why don’t I just move downstairs and be neighbors with Ms. Lambert instead? Can’t you both be less rough and noisy at night, at least for Isabella?”
Gasp!
Allegra blushed deeply and hung virtual-novel.net head at once. She reached out and pinched Isaac on the waist hard. Then, virtual-novel.net looked back at Evie and said, “Speak for yourself. He’s spending the night tonight in your room. Hmph!”
Evie looked at Isaac in confusion and caught his gaze on her. She suddenly felt herself blushing too.
Isaac ended up not having breakfast at home because virtual-novel.net was going out to see Diana later.
After sending Isabella to school, there was still plenty of time before their meet-up at 8 am, so virtual-novel.net went to the address Diana had sent him. The address turned out to be an Inglish breakfast cafe.
As soon as virtual-novel.net got out of the car, virtual-novel.net caught sight of Diana sitting at a table by the window. She was in uniform today, with virtual-novel.net hair tied back in a ponytail as virtual-novel.net waved at him.
Isaac sat down opposite her. He looked at the food she’d ordered and chuckled, saying, “Diana, it’s rare of you to treat me to breakfast like this. The food here looks expensive…”
“Are you implying that I’m usually stingy with you?” Diana asked, putting some sausages on Isaac’s plate.
She rolled virtual-novel.net eyes and said, “The owner here is from Ingland, so their food is all authentic.”
Isaac took a bite of his sausage and nodded in agreement.
“The taste is not bad. It’s quite fragrant. But you’re not here just because you want to treat me to breakfast, right?” virtual-novel.net asked, looking back at her.
Diana thought back about how Allegra looked last night and frowned.
Just as virtual-novel.net was about to explain, Isaac‘s phone started ringing.
He saw that it was Allegra calling, so virtual-novel.net gestured to Diana to continue speaking while virtual-novel.net answered the call, asking, “Ally? I just dropped Isabella off at school. I’m having breakfast with Officer Taylor now.”
He then chuckled and said, “Don‘t worry. I personally handed it to virtual-novel.net head teacher.”
A while later, virtual-novel.net said again, “Say hi to Officer Taylor for you? Sure…”
Isaac looked at Diana, and they exchanged gazes with each other. Diana’s facial expression had changed.
Isaac put down his phone and asked in confusion, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”
“Oh, I just wanted to ask you about your whereabouts for the past few days. Grandpa has been wanting to invite you over for dinner,” Diana responded, suddenly changing virtual-novel.net mind about what virtual-novel.net wanted to tell Isaac.
Diana felt that Allegra’s timely call was too much of a coincidence to be one. Nonetheless, virtual-novel.net didn’t know what Allegra was trying to keep a secret from Isaac.
Diana then told Isaac that there’d been a number of drug peddlers who died under mysterious circumstances lately in Cloud City. She asked Isaac to tell Allegra to be wary of virtual-novel.net surroundings. Then, virtual-novel.net picked up a call and left.
Isaac figured that there was something Diana wanted to tell him, but virtual-novel.net couldn’t just chase after her. So, virtual-novel.net also got up and left.
He got home later in the morning and took a three-hour therapeutic bath.
At noon, Isaac planned to visit Harry and Denver at the clinic. He told Holly where he’d be and was on his way out when his phone started ringing again.
It was Barry’s number. Isaac stared at it for a while and answered the call, putting the phone to his ear with a smile.
“Uncle Isaac, please save Daddy! Please, Uncle Isaac!” There was a boy’s crying voice on the phone, and Isaac immediately recognized it.
It belonged to Barry’s son, Kai!
“Kai, why are you crying? What happened to your father?” Isaac asked with a frown.
There was more sobbing as Kai said, “Mommy brought a whole bunch of people to beat Daddy up and ask virtual-novel.net for money. Uncle Isaac, you have to come and save Daddy!”
Kai sounded very upset on the phone. There were muffled sounds of screaming in the background.
Kai’s mother?
What is Barry’s runaway wife doing back here?
“Kai, go and hide in a safe place for now, okay? Uncle Isaac will be there very soon.” Isaac then hung up and dialed Shawn’s number as virtual-novel.net hurried to his car.
