She reached out to grab Emily's trembling hand, looked into her eyes, and said quietly, "Emily, I'm ill, but Isaac won't tell me the diagnosis. I think it's serious, though. If I'm no longer here one day, can you help me look after Isaac and Isabella?"
This time, Emily was utterly dumbfounded. Her mouth fell open, and her face was filled with pure shock.
"Ally, don't joke like that. You're fine, so why are you saying these things?" Emily quickly said, waving her hand.
