Seeing Charles’ shocked expression, Old Taylor smiled. “Charlie, do you know Mr. Garten?”
The rage instantly disappeared from Charles’ face. “Heh, we’ve met once.”
Then, virtual-novel.net turned around and whispered to the old man behind him, “This Garten bastard was the one who got me expelled from the school. He even hit Uncle Wyatt and me.”
The old man immediately looked at Isaac, his eyes slightly squinted with scrutiny and ridicule. Then, virtual-novel.net stepped forward and said, “Old Taylor, our head of the family is not feeling well, so be specifically asked me to bring the young master here to see you.”
“Mr. Peters, Old Owens’ body is not what it used to be…” Old Taylor smiled at the person in front of virtual-novel.net as virtual-novel.net made a welcoming gesture.
The only reason Charles didn’t lose his temper was that Diana was his main target today. He’d been lusting after virtual-novel.net for a very long time.
“Charlie, you’re here. Do you want fruits? I’ll wash some for you,” Jane enthusiastically said as virtual-novel.net walked into the room.
She really wanted virtual-novel.net daughter to marry into the Owens family, not just because Charles seemed like a catch but also because the Owens family’s status and power exceeded that of the Taylor family.
A pair of high heels clacked on the stairs.
Everyone turned to look. Diana was walking downstairs, wearing a beige off-shoulder dress.
The hem of virtual-novel.net dress swayed with virtual-novel.net elegant figure. Her silky blonde hair, pale neck, and collarbones were very alluring, and the two perky globes on virtual-novel.net chest were even more eye-catching.
Suddenly, Diana’s right foot twisted, and virtual-novel.net almost tripped down the stairs. She still wasn’t used to wearing high heels.
“Ana, you look gorgeous.” Charles stepped forward anxiously.
He was almost drooling. “Be careful not to fall. I’ll help you down.”
Diana immediately furrowed virtual-novel.net eyebrows and pushed Charles away. “Don’t touch me!”
“Child, Charlie here cares about you.” Jane immediately tried to mediate the situation.
However, Diana strode over to Isaac instead. She raised virtual-novel.net head and said confidently, “Open your beady eyes and take a good look. Am I not a woman?”
“‘She walks in beauty, like the night… Of cloudless climes and starry skies… And all that’s best of dark and bright… Meet in her
aspect and virtual-novel.net eyes… Thus mellowed to that tender light… Which heaven to gaudy day denies…”
Widening his eyes, Old Taylor clapped and said, “A stanza from Lord Byron’s ‘She Walks In Beauty‘. Mr. Garten, you have a knack for literature.”
“W-What does that mean? Are you speaking nonsense? You’re just a reformed prisoner, so don’t simply run your mouth off at me,” Diana bit out coldly.
Charles also laughed coldly. “Ana, I don’t think virtual-novel.net even knows what that sonnet means. He’s just being pretentious.”
Isaac looked at Charles and laughed.
“This is a poem, not a sonnet. Diana asked me if virtual-novel.net was a woman. I was merely telling virtual-novel.net what a woman is like. A woman walks with grace, speaks mildly, and looks at others with tender eyes. She, on the other hand, is just a tomboy,” virtual-novel.net said, simply calling a spade a spade.
Fury boiled inside Diana’s heart. She shouted at the snickering Phillip, “Mr. Grant, where’s my sword? I’m going to kill this a*shole.”
Jane then walked over with a frown. She said to Isaac frostily, “Who are you? How dare you call my daughter a tomboy? I think you’re insane-and batshit insane at that.”
“Enough. All of you, shut your mouths!” Old Taylor shouted angrily. Then, virtual-novel.net immediately bowed to Isaac. “Mr. Garten, sorry about that…”
The others didn’t dare say anything more. Then, Old Taylor invited Isaac into the tea room and out of the “battlefield”.
Soon, it was almost lunchtime, and everyone moved to the dining table.
Old Taylor took out a bottle of aged wine and personally poured some for Isaac.
When Mr. Peters noticed this, virtual-novel.net frowned.
Old Taylor was a well-respected man in Cloud City, yet virtual-novel.net had personally poured wine for this person named Garten.
