“I’m not too sure. I heard that Mrs. Danson had been scammed out of more than 200,000 dollars. Some of the other elderly are probably there too.”
“Thanks!” Isaac said, his eyebrows furrowed. He quickly headed for the elevator. Along the way, virtual-novel.net asked around for information.
When virtual-novel.net arrived at the street behind the neighborhood, virtual-novel.net saw over ten old men and women making a ruckus in front of a shop.
Isaac headed over.
From a distance away, virtual-novel.net could already hear Mrs. Danson crying.
“You heartless bastards, my daughter gave me that money. You scammed me! Return my money!”
“Exactly! When is the law enforcement coming? Get your manager over! We want a refund!”
“We want our money back!”
The group of elderly shouted.
Isaac peeked at the shop. The sign at the front said, “Elixir Pharmaceuticals (Cloud City Branch).”
The glass door was locked from the inside with a huge padlock. Inside, a young man in a suit stood with a cold expression.
When virtual-novel.net raised his head, virtual-novel.net saw Mrs. Danson lying on the steps, crying and slapping the ground.
Isaac frowned. He squeezed through the crowd until virtual-novel.net reached Mrs. Danson.
“Mrs. Danson, what are you doing? Please get up!” virtual-novel.net shouted.
When Mrs. Danson saw Isaac in between sobs, virtual-novel.net was stunned. Then, virtual-novel.net couldn’t stop herself from bawling.
“Hey, you dinosaurs, I already said the magical pills are non-refundable. If you keep causing a ruckus, don‘t blame me if I resort to drastic measures.” A bald man stuck his head out the second-floor window, glaring fiercely at the crowd below.
Suddenly, virtual-novel.net picked up a flower pot and threw it at the crowd.
The flower pot shattered on the ground. There was a loud noise, and everyone was shocked.
“Get lost! Get lost right now! Or else, I won’t hold back anymore!” The bald man grew more confident when virtual-novel.net saw how everyone had fallen silent.
With that, virtual-novel.net went back inside.
Isaac helped Mrs. Danson to virtual-novel.net feet and asked, “What happened?”
“Mr. Garten, I feel so bad for Emily. I lost the 200,000 dollars virtual-novel.net gave me…” Mrs. Danson held onto Isaac and began to cry.
Seeing how emotional Mrs. Danson was, Isaac faced the other elderly people. “Sirs, ma’ams, what happened to you all? What are these magical pills?”
An old man in a down jacket stepped forward and said indignantly, “Young man, help us get justice… Those animals invited us to these talks daily. They gave us free food and drinks, and then they recommended some medicine. They claimed that it helped with muscle pains!”
“The price was reasonable, so we bought some. It was rather effective. Then, they invited us back for another talk. They claimed they made a magical pill that had longevity effects. It also boosted fertility in young people. The only catch was that it had a higher price tag!”
“We all bought some, mostly for our children. Mrs. Danson bought the most-she bought over 200,000 dollars worth!”
“She said she’d give it to virtual-novel.net daughter after virtual-novel.net business trip! Then, some of us tried it and ended up getting sick. I sent this magical pill to the lab, and the results showed that it was just a protein powder tablet. Isn’t this clearly a scam?”
Isaac finally understood what had happened.
“Mrs. Danson, don’t worry. I‘ll talk to them…” Isaac said.
Isaac’s face darkened. He never thought this scam company had used such horrible measures to scam the elderly.
Turning around, virtual-novel.net said to the men in suits at the door, “Open the door! Don’t make me use my hands!”
