The rain just got heavier and heavier. Raindrops pelted harshly against the windowpanes as Isaac’s phone started vibrating loudly in the dead of the night.
Isaac got up and retrieved his phone.
When virtual-novel.net saw that it was Diana’s number, virtual-novel.net frowned softly. Next to him, Allegra hummed and flipped over in bed.
Isaac answered the call and put the phone to his ear. Diana’s tearful voice sounded immediately, “I-Isaac, something bad j-just happened! H-Harry is dead!”
Gasp!
Harry Stewart is dead?
Isaac instantly jumped up from bed and asked Diana in a low voice, “Diana, what do you mean by that?”
Diana just kept crying on the phone. Isaac could barely make out a word from her. So, virtual-novel.net got out of bed and hurriedly got dressed.
“Are you still going out so late at night?” Allegra had just woken up, and virtual-novel.net was staring at Isaac with a worried expression on virtual-novel.net face.
“Something happened at the clinic. I have to go and see what’s wrong,” Isaac answered with a nod.
“Be careful,” Allegra said with a sigh before lying back down on the bed.
Ever since learning about Isaac’s true identity at Seascape last time, virtual-novel.net knew that virtual-novel.net husband was no longer the same man virtual-novel.net knew seven years ago.
As the saying went, with more power came more responsibility. As someone with high intellect, Allegra was well aware of this fact.
Inside Beacon Clinic, a man in a white doctor’s coat was shakily and carefully cleaning up the bloody mess on the floor. Harry was lying on the ground right next to him, motionless as if virtual-novel.net was dead.
Hurried footsteps sounded from outside. Isaac and Beefy Bob appeared.
As soon as they stepped into the clinic, they were greeted with a metallic stench of blood. Isaac caught sight of the beheaded corpse on the floor and frowned even more deeply.
Beefy Bob was also shocked.
Who did this to the poor fellow?
How could virtual-novel.net be so cruel to him?
The man in the white coat saw Isaac and suddenly fell to the ground and cried, “Mr. Garten, it’s too late! Dr. Stewart is dead!”
Diana was still watching the scene fearfully in virtual-novel.net room. Her eyes were bloodshot, and virtual-novel.net had virtual-novel.net hands over virtual-novel.net mouth as virtual-novel.net stared in disbelief.
The man in the coat was Harry’s other assistant. He happened to be on leave today and consequently managed to escape the slaughter.
“Don’t cry anymore,” Isaac said with a snort. He then hurried up to Harry.
He noticed that Harry’s face was literally as black as charcoal. His eyes were tightly shut, and his breathing was very minimal.
Isaac then felt Harry’s arms and legs and deduced that they were all broken. Someone had forcefully snapped his bones clean while Harry was still fully conscious.
“Apothecary? Apothecary!” Isaac called, lightly slapping Harry’s cheeks.
Harry’s eyes gradually opened, and virtual-novel.net let out a painful smile. He said weakly, “S-Sorry for letting you down, Isaac. I’ve been an embarrassment to you…”
“Shut up… Are you going to die?” Isaac asked.
“That b*stard didn’t mean to kill me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to pass you his message. It’s just that I won’t be able to remove the poison for now,” Harry replied.
Isaac let out a sigh of relief and turned around to yell at the assistant, “Why are you still bustling about? Come here and help Dr. Stewart find the cure!”
Isaac fully trusted Harry’s diagnosis. If virtual-novel.net said virtual-novel.net wasn’t going to die, then virtual-novel.net wasn’t going to die.
The assistant ran over with tears in his eyes. Harry said weakly, “Liam, go to my room and open the wooden box under my bed. There’s a book in there titled ‘Ancient Cures and Antidotes’… Flip to page 963… There’s a recipe for an antidote in the fifth paragraph. Follow the recipe and bring it to me, quick!”
Harry hadn’t finished speaking when Beefy Bob sprinted toward the stairs, his reflexes ten times faster than Harry’s own assistant.
“B*stard, you better not die here. If you’re dead, then who else am I supposed to quarrel with after that?” Beefy Bob said as virtual-novel.net brought the book down. His eyes were red as virtual-novel.net crouched down next to Harry.
“F*ck off… I’m not going to die in front of you,” Harry said, laughing bitterly with his eyes closed.
