Thomas was sitting on a long bench in the detention center. He closed his eyes and rested as if he did not hear what the waiter said.
The waiter waited for a few seconds at the door. When he noticed that Thomas did not respond, he frowned. Then, he forced a smile and walked up to Thomas before he chuckled and said, “Mr. Mayo, I know what happened earlier was my fault. I should not have locked you in this place. You can punch me or punish me. Just don’t throw a tantrum, please.”
Throw a tantrum? Thomas was going to throw a tantrum right now!
Thomas acted like he did not hear him. He leaned on the wall with his eyes closed, and he did not move at all. Nobody knew whether he was sleeping or not.
When the waiter saw that Thomas did not move, he anxiously nudged Thomas a little. “Mr. Mayo! Mr. Mayo, are you sleeping? Mr. Mayo?!”
