The next day, Thomas took his mother-in-law, Felicia to the newly opened chain store of Stellar Jewelers. Emma was afraid that they might get themselves into trouble and decided to accompany them too.
As soon as they arrived at the door of the store, they saw a crowd of middle-aged men and women, each of them uttering cuss words. They were holding all kinds of jewelry in their hands and yelling for refunds. Obviously, they had met the same fate as Felicia. They were ordinary people who had fallen into the trap of unscrupulous merchants. But all they could do was to yell and complain about it.
Since the jewelry store had expected such an incident to break out, a dozen security guards had been hired to block the door. Not even a single person who wished to fight for their rights was allowed to get in. Those who tried to cause trouble were kicked out.
When a merchant bullied its customers, especially for a huge business like Stellar Jewelers, there was no way for the common folk to fight back.
Thomas squeezed through a crowd and was about to enter the shop, but he was quickly stopped by the security guard at the door.
