That night, when they got home, Thomas told Emma that he wanted to leave home for a business trip that would last for a few days in South City. He did not have a fixed number as to how many days the trip would last, however.
Emma pouted and was very unhappy.
This meant that they would have a long period of time where they could not meet each other, and they had to endure the pain of being lovesick. After living together over this period of time, Emma had grown to be highly dependent on Thomas, and she could not bear to leave him, especially for such a long period of time. She could not accept it.
“Must you go?” Emma asked, feeling reluctant to leave him.
Thomas felt resigned. If he could choose, he did not want to leave Emma either, but this was their current situation. If he did not go to South City, how could he save Vany?
