He eventually raised his head to look at Bobby, and he could see genuine remorse in his eyes. He was no longer putting on airs.
The eyes were the windows to one’s soul. One could tell if the other was sincere in their remorse by looking into their eyes.
Bobby seemed relaxed and carefree right now, as if he had just returned from the brink of death and had figured out the meaning of life.
That piqued Thomas's interest. He knocked lightly on the table and said, “Bobby, you should only have hatred and no gratitude toward me, right? Then, why are you thanking me?”
Bobby straightened his back and bit his lip. After a few deep breaths, Bobby revealed the truth behind the scheme from three days ago. He went into great detail about how he worked with Weiss to set Thomas up, how he was fooled by Weiss, and how he managed to stay alive through it all. Bobby would be in prison right now if Thomas had not seen through Weiss's scheme.
