Francis and the others didn't respond, not because they didn't want to, but because they genuinely didn't know how to.
They had considered scenarios where Halvor might fight to the death, have a backup plan, or attempt to escape. However, what they had never anticipated was Halvor actually kneeling to plead for mercy.
This scene was completely unexpected for them.
"I'm already in this state! Do you still not believe me?" Halvor sounded like he was about to break down. "What do Ineed to do for you to let me go? Just tell me, and I promise I'll do it. I'm begging you, please don't kill me. Just give me one last chance!"
Hearing his pleas again, the others finally snapped back to reality.
