Sir Hudson's expression turned incredulous as he exclaimed, "According to the records, the ice melts into water, trickles through, and creates a 108-yard ice cave. We should be at its entrance, but now, the volcano has become active and melted at least a hundred yards of ice."
This indicated that previously, the ice extended all the way down. However, now it had melted, leaving a gap of at least a hundred yards between their current position and the bottom of the ice surface.
Remus said, "The good news is that the melting speed isn't rapid. Barring any other factors, it will take hundreds of years to completely melt the ice above."
As they moved further apart, the melting speed of the ice slowed down.
Sir Hudson nodded. He agrred this was a blessing in disguise.
