Elena sensed that the others were all silent.

With much difficulty, she said, "I, Elena Caldwell, am a person of honor and integrity!"

She continued, "If you all think that I was in the wrong, then I have nothing to say anymore. I'll accept whatever punishment that befalls me!"

"However," she added. "I still have some matters to attend to. So, come to my house if you want to settle things with me!"

With that said, she turned and left. She couldn't stay there any longer. Only by leaving could she let things cool down a bit and gradually become forgotten.
