In essence, the Monarch of Mortals was symbiotic with the Pathic Energies. As long as someone attained the state of being a Monarch of Mortals, they would become very difficult to eliminate.

Remus asked, "My father's spirit is at the Monarch of Mortals Stage, yet his heavenly and earthly souls aren't?"

Chaos nodded. "You can say that. His spirit is at the Monarch of Mortals level, while his earthly and heavenly souls are only at the Martial Divinity Stage. What's even stranger is that for normal people, if their physical body is destroyed, their three souls would disperse. No matter how strong they are, it would at least significantly weaken them..."

"But even though your father's heavenly and earthly souls are gone, his spirit has become stronger, almost comparable to a Monarch's. If it weren't for the fact that spirits are not tolerated in the Mortal Realm and must return to the Underworld, his spirit could very likely have achieved the status of a Monarch of Mortals."
