As usual, Remus sent Devon flying with a kick. As he flew to the maximum distance that the soul whip could reach, Remus yanked him back toward himself with force and kicked him a second time.
With Devon being kicked at a 45-angle, he resembled a kite being tugged back and forth by the wind.
Everyone in the courtyard, whether it was Lencal's men who were tied up, Devon's men lying on the ground, or Rodney, had their eyes fixed on him. Their heads turned back and forth in unison to follow his movements.
After three kicks, Remus pulled Devon closer and asked again, "Now, if I say I mean no harm and just want to leave the Underworld, do you believe me?"
Devon was silent. He was so beaten up and dazed that he completely forgot to respond.
