"Master Geoffrey?" Charlie was somewhat taken aback when he heard that name.
It was one he encountered quite often lately. He had assisted Nanako in her spiritual growth at Cloud Temple and, unexpectedly, had even engaged with noteworthy Japanese monks.
Though he wasn't one to suspect easily, his intuition told him that when someone unrelated to him kept appearing in conversation, there had to be a reason. So he asked Nanako, "Did you see Master Geoffrey again this time?"
"No," Nanako responded, shaking her head. "Master Geoffrey left Japan after conducting the funeral, and I didn't attend it, so I didn't see him. I went to Kinkakuji Temple to pay my respects to Master Kongyin only after the funeral was over. The temple is currently undergoing renovations, so they weren't allowing visitors for the time being. Fortunately, the Ito family has historically been the largest benefactor to Kinkakuji, and the temple made an exception for us."
Charlie nodded slightly, sighing as he remarked, "I haven't encountered many monks in my life. Those few I have met were either foes or had previously been foes. For someone like Master Geoffrey, who has attained Buddhahood, he must be exceptional. It would be wonderful to have the chance to meet him and discuss Buddhist philosophy."
