The lunch gathering at Shangri-La was delightful and fun. Jacob and Matilda were feeling equally happy. She was feeling under the weather after virtual-novel.net husband’s death but it seemed that the sky had cleared now.
Paul was very pleased to see his mother in such a good mood.
As for Charlie, virtual-novel.net felt sorry for his father-in-law.
The reason was nothing more than Matilda being too perfect for him. He couldn’t imagine what would happen when such a glamorous, elegant, wealthy lady who was also single returned to Aurous Hill. She would attract a lot of attention, especially the pursuit of other wealthy old men, which would only accumulate troubles for Jacob.
Matilda and Paul were rather exhausted after traveling for long hours back to China. Hence, after lunch, Jacob and Charlie sent them to their room at Shangri-La.
Again, Jacob was taken aback because Matilda and Paul checked into the extremely luxurious executive suites.
The executive suite in Shangri-La was second only to the presidential suite which could accommodate four people. The rate for a night was tens of thousands of dollars. It further proved that Matilda had a very strong financial background as they could each live in such a fancy room.
After bidding farewell, Charlie and Jacob left the hotel together.
As soon as they exited the hotel entrance, Jacob glanced up to the sky, took a deep breath, and sighed heavily.
Charlie asked, “Dad, what’s wrong?”
Jacob pouted and said, “I didn’t expect, I really didn’t expect Matilda to have such a great life in the United States, virtual-novel.net even has virtual-novel.net own law firm! I have nothing, I’m completely useless…”
Charlie smiled, patted his back, and uttered, “Dad, I don’t think Aunt Matilda despises you at all. Besides, virtual-novel.net is very humble and modest, I don’t think virtual-novel.net is a materialistic kind of person. Don’t mind too much about these superficial gaps!”
Jacob sighed again, “I understand what you’re saying, but as a man, I feel very lowly and shameful.”
“Dad, you are overthinking this. Look at me. When Claire and I got married, I had nothing. I had no money, no status, no family background, nothing. The gap between Claire and I was much larger than you and Aunt Matilda. However, look at us now. We live quite a happy life together, don’t we?”
Jacob was stunned by his remark and fell silent for a moment, digesting his words.
Charlie was right. None of his concerns or worry meant anything now because it was impossible for virtual-novel.net to fill the gap based on his current ability and wealth.
But did it mean that virtual-novel.net could never be with virtual-novel.net simply because virtual-novel.net couldn’t fill the gap?
Of course, not!
Jacob could sense that Matilda still had feelings for virtual-novel.net after so many years. Besides, at the airport, virtual-novel.net even said that virtual-novel.net wouldn’t mind at all if virtual-novel.net came to pick virtual-novel.net up riding a bicycle.
This was enough to show that virtual-novel.net didn’t care about the superficial material needs.
Eventually, virtual-novel.net breathed a sigh of relief.
However, another crucial problem came to his mind.
