Matt Finkelstein felt a touch of anxiety. He was uncertain whether Charlie's words were genuine or merely a form of teasing. After all, he had previously offered 1 billion US dollars for Tawanna's life, and Mr. Wade, the man backing her, wished for a resolution between him and Tawanna.
If Charlie was being sincere. that would be acceptable. but if he had ulterior motives, then Matt could be In serious trouble.
Steve, noticing Matt's distress, chimed in with a smile, "Matt, don't let your cynicism cloud your judgment of Mr. Wade's intentions. If Mr. Wade wanted to punish you, you wouldn't be here today. He could have eliminated you in the United States."
Matt nodded vigorously. replying respectfully. "Mr. Rothschild is absolutely right. I have no doubts about Mr. Wade. I'm just concerned that It might be a bit awkward when I see Tawanna later..."
"That's not a problem," Charlie replied calmly. "Regardless of your past or any conflicts of interest, it's time to turn a new leaf and move forward."
