As Jack's plane prepared to land in Melbourne, the freighter Claire was aboard had already departed from the Yellow Sea and entered the East China Sea.
After spending nearly twenty-four hours on the ship, Claire had hardly rested, her thoughts consumed by memories of her life and Charlie over the years. Elaine and Jacob had been asleep for most of that time, but signs of awakening were starting to show.
Mindy approached Claire's door, knocked gently, and said respectfully, “Ms. Wilson, your parents are about to wake up.”
Claire snapped back to reality, wiped the lingering tears from the corners of her eyes, and hurriedly opened the door, asking, “Can I go see them?”
“Of course,” Mindy replied. “They may have many questions once they wake up, so we'll need to be ready to answer them.”
