Charlie's words felt like a wake-up call, causing Hank to cry without shedding any tears. He hadn't anticipated that Charlie would be waiting for him here, he truly believed that Charlie could completely save him and offer him a chance to serve loyally by his side.
However, now Charlie had to choose between one of his abilities to live or pursue that aspect of his life. Hank was unwilling to make any of these choices.
Desperately, he pleaded. "Mr. Wade, please give me a chance to start anew and become a better person. I want to work hard alongside you, I don't want to be someone who lacks the ability to change and is consumed by despair. That would just be a waste. Even though I can survive, it would likely be hard for me to create any real value..."
As he spoke, Hank added, "And didn‘t you say that this was a reward for me as a class representative? Why are you asking me to make a choice again now?"
Charlie smiled and replied, "You really have a lot of questions. Have you ever thought about what reward I will truly offer you?"
