It blocked the space between Jared and the platform. Then it threw open its jaws and unleashed a roar that shook the whole pit.

Heavenfire power rode inside that roar. The sound wave turned solid, became a flaming shockwave, and swept straight at Jared.

Jared didn't dodge. He drove straight into the oncoming wave of fire. Chaotic force gathered over his body and sealed itself into a layer of purple armor. The flaming shockwave slammed into the armor.

The moment it did, the chaotic force devoured it, changed it, and swallowed it whole. A flicker passed through the heavenfire beast king's eyes. It seemed to catch something at last. Inside this human body was a power that put it on edge. Even so, it didn't back off.
