The sky was already dark by the time Jared returned to Deragon Sect. As a result, he was even more surprised when he saw Beatrice waiting for him at the door.
“Mom, why are you standing out here…” he uttered before promptly helping her back into her room.
“I was worried that you wouldn’t come home today… I’d disown you if that were the case!”
“Why wouldn’t I, Mom? I always keep my promises to you,” Jared reassured.
“That’s good to hear. Cecilia and the others are in the room next door, and they’ve already taken their baths. Everyone’s waiting for you,” Beatrice replied. “By the way, don’t even think about fooling me. I’ll be listening from here!”
