Lizbeth bit her lips and stared at Jared with tears in her eyes. “I’m not leaving either, Jared. What’s the point of living if you die? I can’t live without you anymore…”
At last, Lizbeth had blurted out her innermost thoughts. She had long fallen in love with Jared but only held back from confessing her feelings because of Josephine. Now that the truth was out, Lizbeth’s face flushed with embarrassment.
Although Jared was stunned by the confession, Josephine remained unfazed.
She held Lizbeth’s hand and gave her a reassuring smile. “It’s okay, Lizbeth. I’ve known this for a while now. I’m just glad we can both be with Jared, even in death.”
Lizbeth nodded excitedly in response, nary a trace of fear or panic on her face.
