“We’re all adults here,” Tiffany laughed. “Why are you acting so shy? We talk about everything.”
They went back to the private room after dealing with the little ones. Melanie’s daughter was bawling, and Melanie was holding the baby, trying to coax her with an apologetic look on her face.
After a long, drawn-out attempt, Melanie was at her wits’ end. “Maybe I should take her home? She’s probably not used to the environment. That’s why she’s crying.”
Alejandro reached out and took the baby into his arms. “It’s fine. You eat. I’ll deal with her. We rarely go out for dinner, why should you go home halfway through it?”
Melanie’s heart thumped. This was Alejandro’s first time showing her consideration in front of outsiders. The first time he’s ever cared about her feelings.
