Tanya noticed how hungry Tiffany was and asked, “What’s up with you? What happened? Didn’t you eat?”
Tiffany leaned back in the chair and heaved a long sigh of relief. “It’s nothing... I’m tired. I’m going to bed. I’ll do the dishes tomorrow morning. Leave them there.”
She lay on her bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. She could not help shake the feeling that her words to Jackson had crossed the line. She felt she should apologize but was embarrassed.
She sent Arianne a message, asking for advice. She gave Arianne a brief summary of what happened.
Arianne’s reply came soon enough. “Since you think you crossed the line, you shouldn’t hesitate to apologize. Otherwise, you’ll only continue to feel uneasy. Just treat it as a means to relieve your conscience. It’s not like you’re going to lose your skin over an apology. Our social circle isn’t that big, you’re bound to run into him again anyway.”
