Arianne shook her head helplessly and returned to her seat. Robin’s relationship with Sylvain was still considered vaguely above average. Sylvain’s future was now considered bleak after everything he had been through. She wasn’t sure of what to make of Robin’s relationship with Sylvain. She would simply play by ear.
Mark picked her up after work that evening. The pair headed to the hospital with a bag full of fruits. As she had expected, Tiffany was in too much pain to get down from bed. She had suffered worse than she did. She was supposed to get down from bed the next day after surgery. The amount of IV fluids she had received meant that she had to go to the toilet a few times. Tiffany would wail and howl whenever she had to go to the toilet. Her cries made Jackson, who had to support her along the way, break out into cold sweat.
Tiffany burst into tears when she saw that Arianne and Mark had arrived. “Arianne, ”she sobbed. “I should have listened to you and chosen natural birth instead. I’m in so much pain...”
Arianne helped her lie down and peeled a banana for her. “There’s no pill for regret. Natural birth hurts too, and the birthing process is slower. You’ll need a few days from the start of the birth to the end of it. You’ll suffer waves of pain over and over again in between. It’s not any better than a Cesarean. It’s going to hurt anyway. The only difference is the recovery time frame. Just make sure to eat well over the next few days, and you’ll recover faster. It’ll stop hurting after two days, trust me. Just put up with it.”
Jackson carefully wiped Tiffany’s tears away. “Don’t cry, my mom said that it’s bad to cry postpartum. What if it slows the recovery rate?”
