The nurse seemed rather resentful, but she didn’t say anything about it. She turned around to leave. After all, if a patient had someone to take care of him, she wouldn’t need to take care of him.
A few minutes later, Tiffany’s hand was getting sore. “Can you actually do it? Use a urinary catheter if you can’t pee. Don’t force yourself...”
Jackson’s face turned red then white. “You’re the one who ‘can’t do it’... You’re a girl. Don’t you feel embarrassed by all of this? You’ve even mentioned that you were the one who took care of your dad when he was sick. Isn’t it inappropriate, even if you are his daughter? It wouldn’t be so bad if it were your mom instead...”
Tiffany replied in self-mockery, “My mom? If my dad could actually rely on her, he wouldn’t have to suffer that much while he was alive. My mom is a woman whose only talent lies in enjoying life. Even though I’m the one in dire straits now, it’s still the same. All she knows is to cry about it I’d still have to do it, regardless of how awkward it is. After all, when my dad went bankrupt... we didn’t have any money to hire help. Besides, you don’t need to feel embarrassed. You weren’t embarrassed at all in front of that nurse. You were even comfortable enough to let her take care of you. Why is it so different with me? Is it because my looks are not to your taste?”
Jackson didn’t know why he wasn’t embarrassed in front of the nurse either. Perhaps it was because it was her job. Tiffany wasn’t a medical staff member. He really wasn’t comfortable with her taking care of him...
