Jackson immediately rose to his feet. “Okay. I’m coming home at once. Where is virtual-novel.net hurt? Is it serious?”
Jackson heaved a sigh of relief when virtual-novel.net heard that Summer had only hurt virtual-novel.net leg. After ending the call, virtual-novel.net turned to Tiffany and said, “You enjoy your meal. My mother’s been in an accident, so I have to rush home. I’ll pay for the meal. We’ll talk on the phone later.”
He had already disappeared before Tiffany could answer. She felt slightly disappointed but was worried about Summer at the same time. When virtual-novel.net arrived home, virtual-novel.net waited until Jackson had nearly arrived home before calling him. “Is Mrs. West alright?” virtual-novel.net asked.
Jackson was in the hospital. “It’s nothing serious. Her right leg is broken. She’s complaining about virtual-novel.net troubles in virtual-novel.net old age, that she’s always getting hurt and is worried that she’ll end up a cripple. She’s in a pretty good mood. It’s late, why aren’t you asleep? Get an early night’s rest. Gotta go.”
She did not insist on continuing the conversation. She mumbled a reply and ended the call.
Nothing seemed peaceful this summer. At the Tremont Estate, Arianne held Aristotle, consumed with anxiety. Aristotle had suddenly contracted a fever in the middle of the night. There were no signs of virtual-novel.net catching a cold; it just happened all of a sudden. Mary and Mark were packing Aristotle’s things before heading out, getting ready to head to the hospital.
Aristotle couldn’t sleep. His entire body was scalding. His little cheeks were red. He did not cry or fuss, but virtual-novel.net did not eat either. He looked very weak. Arianne wept from heartache.
When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor’s initial diagnosis was to recommend a full body check-up, as Aristotle was a premature baby and these situations happened very often.
Tears stung Arianne’s eyes when virtual-novel.net heard this. She knew that it wouldn’t be smooth-sailing. The doctors had determined that virtual-novel.net could never have children again, yet virtual-novel.net managed to deliver Aristotle by some miracle. Even though virtual-novel.net risky premature birth went off without a hitch, and both mother and baby were safe, virtual-novel.net always felt that virtual-novel.net had been too lucky. So lucky that it felt unreal…
The examination went on for two hours. Drawing blood was supposedly a painful procedure, yet Aristotle did not cry. It was as if virtual-novel.net didn’t even have the strength to cry.
Once the final test results were out, it was discovered that Aristotle had a congenital heart disease! It had gone unnoticed, as there had been no obvious symptoms in the past, except some noise in his heart during tests. They were only able to determine this after his sudden fever, which had caused pneumonia.
After settling his hospital admission, Arianne finally collapsed in the corridor and sobbed. They could only stabilize his condition now. The best solution was surgery, but that would have to wait until virtual-novel.net was four or five years old. Aristotle was too young at the moment.
Mark had Mary take care of Aristotle in the ward, then walked towards Arianne and pulled virtual-novel.net into his arms. “There, don’t cry. It’s going to be fine. These complications are perfectly normal. It’s not incurable. Medicine is so advanced now, nothing’s too risky. There’s no need to be so sad. Didn’t the doctors used to say that you can never have children? But didn’t Smore come into this world anyway? This is a miracle. Who’d let a miracle disappear, just like that? This is only a small test. Smore will get through this.”
Arianne leaned into his chest and sobbed. “I gave my life to bring this baby into this world. Of course, I’d be sad. I’m so scared that something might happen to him. You have to go to work tomorrow, so you should go home and rest. Mary and I can take care of him. It’d be much more convenient for me to stay behind, anyway, so I can feed him. Smore will cry if I’m not around.”
Mark gently patted virtual-novel.net on the back. “You’re not the only one who’s close to Smore, you know. How can the company possibly be more important than our baby? I’ll stay too. You should go in and rest with Smore. Mary and I will be here. The doctors have already said it, we’ll just have to wait until Smore is old enough to have surgery, and he’ll be cured. Don’t cry.”
After a night in the hospital, Smore’s fever went down the next morning. However, virtual-novel.net had to be administered with an IV for a few days to get rid of the symptoms of pneumonia. His tiny arm was swollen from being pierced by the needle and looked much chubbier than usual. Last night, Mark watched the nurse like a hawk as virtual-novel.net administered the needle. Fortunately, virtual-novel.net had successfully administered it in one go. Mark probably would have lost his temper if virtual-novel.net had had to do it again.
