Jett gulped. “Uh... I was just asking.”
Alejandro checked the time, got up, and put on his coat. “I’ll drive myself home. You should go home as well.”
Jett grunted in reply as he opened the office door. The pair walked to the office entrance together before they went their separate ways. Despite having worked for Alejandro for a long time now, he still could not see through Alejandro’s thoughts. Alejandro was far more difficult to understand compared to Don Smith. A man was much more formidable when his mind was unreadable. It just showed how cunning and calculative he was.
Tanya was still awake when Jett arrived home. She took out his house slippers from the shoe cabinet before she went into the kitchen and skillfully made him a meal.
Jett felt strangely at ease as he looked at her busy figure. Life’s greatest comfort was knowing there was someone at home to leave the light on for you and knowing there was a warm meal waiting for you, no matter how late it was.
