Rowan’s mind was currently elsewhere. He was wondering who was supporting Amir.
No one would believe that Amir got to this position based on his ability alone. He must have someone supporting virtual-novel.net behind the scenes because, with his qualifications, it would be impossible for virtual-novel.net to stand out among the many people who wanted the general manager position at Gruel Processing Plant.
It came down to two possible candidates, Kimbra or Sahar.
It must be one of them…
If Rowan could figure out who that person was, virtual-novel.net would be able to predict the direction of the negotiation, which would put them at an advantage. However, virtual-novel.net could not figure out who it was for the life of him.
While Rowan was still deep in thought, Amir had already sat down in his exquisitely crafted leather chair.
After lighting the cut cigar, the henchman handed it to Amir.
Amir took the cigar and squinted while virtual-novel.net inhaled with enjoyment. Then, virtual-novel.net turned to glance at Rowan before saying calmly, “So, you’re the person who came to make a deal. Is that right, Stephan… Jefferson?”
Due to safety reasons, Rowan did not use his real Somerland name. Instead, virtual-novel.net used a foreign alias.
Rowan frowned when virtual-novel.net noticed Amir’s expression. There was something off about Amir’s face. He did not look like virtual-novel.net was short of money or asking for help.
Rowan had done his research, so virtual-novel.net was certain that Gruel was in a precarious situation in terms of cash flow. Their remaining funds could support the processing plant’s operations for a week at most.
For some reason, the family had been late to allocate funds. In other words, Gruel was facing a grave crisis. Otherwise, Amir would not have to advertise within his circle, hoping that people would buy subscription shares.
Transferring shares in large quantities did not usually occur in secondary markets but more in private transactions. Not only would it facilitate large funding operations, but it would keep it confidential too. Thus, it would not affect the stock price or cause the market to crash.
Besides, the stock market regulations in Qari were not as rigorous as in Somerland, so some things were still allowed.
“Yes, I’m very interested in the stocks you’re selling,” Rowan said frankly, even though virtual-novel.net was confused.
He had come all the way here, so even if virtual-novel.net noticed something off, virtual-novel.net would have to test the waters first. He had to sniff out the other person first before bringing up anything else.
“Fine, you may discuss it with Khan…”
After that, Amir stopped talking. He took out a magazine from the drawer and started reading it with fascination.
Judging from the cover, it seemed to be a lewd magazine.
Next to him, a man, who seemed to be another one of his lackeys, stepped forward.
He was Amir’s secretary, Khan.
“Mr. Amir, are you really not going to deal with such an important matter personally?”
Rowan’s expression could no longer be described as fascinated. If anything, virtual-novel.net was shocked.
He could not imagine how Amir could entrust others to discuss matters that directly relate to the company’s core assets and the processing plant’s survival. Instead, virtual-novel.net was reading a magazine like it meant nothing to him.
Everything was beyond Rowan at this point.
He thought it would be a friendly yet intense professional business negotiation, but now, things were not what virtual-novel.net expected.
