With lying out of the picture, a terrifying idea came to Abdul’s mind.
Just who was Jasper Laine, and how can virtual-novel.net do things that no ordinary human can?
Not even the Qari government had immediate updates about everything its people did…
Abdul initially thought that Jasper was a mole that the Elvis family had planted in the Kurt clan, and while that would allow Jasper to know what the Kurt family was doing, ‘every move’ was definitely an exaggeration.
However, from their conversation earlier, it seemed like not only was there no exaggeration, but Jasper had been humble about the extent of the information virtual-novel.net was privy to.
If Kimbra wanted to meet Sahar’s wife, virtual-novel.net would have to do it in an extremely secretive area, not somewhere a mole could possibly know about. After all, it would be detrimental to everyone involved, and the clan would split if word got out.
Also, from what Abdul saw, Jasper watched the surveillance cameras live. There was no doubting the timing or accuracy of Jasper’s intel.
Abdul could not even imagine how deeply one’s hands must be into the Kurt clan, or even Qari as a whole, to know so much. The most terrifying bit was that Jasper had never been to Qari.
Abdul no longer knew if virtual-novel.net did the right thing by seeking Jasper’s help.
Abdul never imagined that Jasper’s source was the connection to the Kurt clan’s surveillance cameras through their security guards. After all, it was unbelievable to think that one person could get their hands on all the surveillance cameras at the residence.
The Kurt clan consulted a few security companies when planning their security system. It was to prevent some companies from being bribed and adding a virus or bug to their security system. They even sourced the system from different companies.
The idea was not to put all their eggs in the same basket, to prevent their security system from becoming a target that could shut down their entire residence and make them vulnerable to attack. After all, the Kurt clan owned one of the largest petroleum businesses in Qari, and they had a fair share of rivals and enemies who were always ready to plot their demise.
As such, Abdul automatically ruled out the possibility of someone watching their surveillance cameras.
It would never occur to virtual-novel.net that the most improbable option was, in fact, the truth. Nor would it ever cross his mind that the United States had done it, not Jasper.
“I will not always get to watch the Kurt clan’s every move… More accurately, I will only know what’s happening now…”
“I would never need to rescue Baltimore and work together with virtual-novel.net if I had my hands on live surveillance all the time. I could’ve come up with a better and more fool-proof plan,” Jasper explained, telling the truth.
When virtual-novel.net was met with silence, Jasper knew that Abdul had begun to overthink and scare himself with the imaginative possibilities.
There was an expiration date to the password Snow gave virtual-novel.net to access the surveillance cameras. After all, no one knew when the intelligence agency would send men to replace those cameras.
Jasper never planned to show off his capabilities through surveillance anyway. He knew it was not worth raising Abdul’s expectations of himself. This entire cooperation would be put at risk if Jasper fails to meet those expectations.
As such, Jasper would much rather reveal his ‘weaknesses’ instead. Especially when doing so was more effective in gaining Abdul’s trust.
