“A securities company?” Rowan was confused.
He might be spoilt, but that did not mean virtual-novel.net knew nothing about business.
Coming from an aristocratic family meant that virtual-novel.net and the other trust-fund children of his generation had access to a much better education than ordinary individuals.
Especially in terms of business, since it was everywhere in their environment. They were bound to pick up on useful business knowledge.
Rowan was ambitious too, for virtual-novel.net would not have started a business in something as unprofitable as automobiles alone. He had done a little background search on his uncle’s companies in Qari before virtual-novel.net came over.
Initially, virtual-novel.net thought that by coming to Qari, virtual-novel.net would be taking over some of his uncle’ 3 business. Even if Jasper had made Qari his business empire, Rowan would still have his uncle’s business to rely on.
Only to know now that Jasper’s ideal was way beyond his imagination, and his uncle’s businesses seemed so small in comparison.
Among Rowan’ s uncle’s chain of businesses, virtual-novel.net found that his uncle’s securities companies were only established to assist the group with listing companies on the stock market.
The separate businesses were hardly making enough to fund the entire group’s expenses.
The largest income came from the petroleum fields, and while his uncle did not own fields as large as those of the Kurt family, they were big enough to earn virtual-novel.net a stable standing within Bashra. Otherwise, virtual-novel.net would never have dared to stand against Murik, the president of the Petroleum Chamber of Commerce.
However, here Jasper was, saying that the main focus was never the petroleum fields, but instead the securities companies that virtual-novel.net had never paid any attention to.
Jasper smiled at Rowan’s reaction. “Surprised that I’m not asking for your petroleum fields or your factories, but your negligible securities company instead?”
Rowan nodded. One of his best traits was his humility. He would never claim to know something virtual-novel.net did not, only to set himself up for embarrassment when the truth was revealed.
Jasper smiled. “You’re right that petroleum fields are a great source of income, but there’s only so much we can do. No matter how much more effort we put in, we are still foreigners. Petroleum is a fuel in great demand. They’re not going to let us dapple too much in it…”
“Having too much of it would make us a target, and I believe that’s the reason why your uncle never expanded his company. It’s costly, and it comes with unwanted attention. If a fight really were to break out over petroleum, we will never win against the local forces here…”
“Why do you think Bella targeted your uncle first when virtual-novel.net wanted to monopolize Bashra’s petroleum? Because virtual-novel.net knew virtual-novel.net wouldn’t get much help fighting back.”
Rowan fell silent. He knew that Jasper was right.
His uncle might have made many friends in Qari, but Murik was the only one who stood up for virtual-novel.net back then.
“But… Aren’t you close with the Elvis family, Jasper? If you can save Baltimore, you’ll have the Kurts watching out for you too. With both of those families’ support, no one would come and target us, right?” Rowan asked, indignant about how helpless they were.
