Abe smiled when virtual-novel.net heard Kimbra’s plea.
“I’ve heard of it, yes. But why would I help you? Ever since you became the head of your family, you’ve done nothing but cause trouble for us and now you’ve even dragged me into your sh*t as well. You are rash, impulsive, and you never think about the consequences of your actions. It’s only been a few days, and you’ve already made an enemy out of everyone!”
“So why must I help you? And don’t tell me it’s because you’re the head of the Kurt family. With the way you do things, it’ll only be a matter of time before they have you step down.”
Abe’s words were dripping with disdain and belittlement.
Kimbra took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
He then said, “We were in this together the moment we agreed to work for Bella, Abe. You’re right that you don’t have to help me, but if anything happens to me, it’ll only be a matter of time before it’s your turn.”
The mention of Bella irked Abe. “Bella? Don’t f*cking bring virtual-novel.net up in front of me. She told me to work with you, and then virtual-novel.net ran once you failed. I can’t f*cking get in touch with her.”
“Also, we’re not f*cking in anything together just because I defended you that one time in A. H. Mosque, alright? There is nothing between us. You are you, I am me!”
“And don’t lump the entire Kurt family with you. Yes, your family is crucial to Qari’s petroleum industry, but you are not. The Elvis’ are after you, Kimbra, not your family. You wanna solve this? Easy. Step down. Give up your position and everyone will be happy.”
Kimbra was red with anger and sneered. “You think I have nothing on you, Abe? Help me, or I will drag you down with me!”
Abe shrugged nonchalantly. “Really? Instead of thinking about how to save yourself, you’re going to threaten me instead? Everyone wants you off your seat, Kimbra. I’d like to see what you can do once you’re no longer head of your family.”
“Well, anyway, I’m a busy man, Kimbra. I have things to do, so don’t call me again. I’ve been reported for accepting bribes, it wouldn’t do my case very well to be in contact with the likes of you at such a time, would it?”
Before Kimbra could say another word, Abe ended the call.
Infuriated, Kimbra tried to call again, but his number was blocked.
His furious expression froze on his face as virtual-novel.net realized that Abe truly meant to distance himself.
Feeling hopeless, Kimbra fell to the ground. He slowly recalled what Abe had said and realized that Abe, too, could not get in touch with Bella. He wondered if this meant that virtual-novel.net had abandoned Abe too, but virtual-novel.net did not understand why.
He could understand if Bella abandoned him, for virtual-novel.net could always form another partnership with the new leader of the Kurt family.
Abe, though, was the vice president of the Petroleum Chamber of Commerce. It would not be easy trying to rope in someone as powerful again. Kimbra wondered if this meant Bella had given up on virtual-novel.net businesses in Qari, and given up on taking revenge against Jasper.
Too many questions flooded Kimbra’s mind, bringing more chaos to his frantic and frustrated mood.
He felt lost. He did not know what to do. Nor did virtual-novel.net know that a hidden camera in his bookshelf had recorded everything that transpired and live-streamed it to a computer in a hotel a few streets away.
