Jasper huffed a chuckle but explained patiently, “You’re not wrong that I have connections, but these are friendships between us as individuals. I have no attachments or connections to their family… And how much these friendships can help depends on the situation. It could function as a catalyst to urge cooperation, but it can never be the starting of a business deal…”
“Say I reach out to Warwick or even Solander to help restart the company; I’m sure they’ll agree. But how long and how much are they supposed to help? Until we become the next Kurts?”
“Let’s not even think about becoming as big as the Kurts. Say we even grow to be half of what the Kurts are today, who’s to say the Elvis family will still look at us the same?”
“And that’s with the Elvis’ main business being petroleum processing. What about the Kurts, whose main income comes from the petroleum fields? Why would they help us become their future competitor?”
“Even if I were to save Baltimore and make virtual-novel.net the clan head again, virtual-novel.net has no reason to help out a new competitor in the making? He is his clan leader before virtual-novel.net is anything else. His clan is his first and most important priority…”
“So, no matter what it is that we do, we have to avoid industries pretty much monopolized by powerful forces. It’s one thing if we end up failing, but if our business does well, we’ll be facing a siege from all directions and any friendly connections that could have helped us… After all, when it comes to profits and interests, little else takes precedence.”
Rowan looked down to mull over Jasper’s words. He was starting to understand what Jasper meant.
Rowan was not stupid in any sense.
They had come to Qari with a special mission, to alleviate Somerland’s energy crisis and distract the United States focus on restricting Somerland.
How much they earned was of little concern. The focus was on planting their roots and ensuring their company would stay for a long time. They needed a long-term plan to make that happen.
It would not be a smart decision to start a business in a highly competitive market that was partly dominated by a highly influential figure, especially not when those figures were clans whose influence has spread far and wide within Qari.
The competition would exhaust them and send them all into early burnout.
“You’re right, Jasper. It would be a mistake to focus our business on petroleum and processing. But why securities?” .
“Sure, Qari’s security industry doesn’t have families like the Kurts or the Elvis dominating it, but it’s too new to be our main source of profit. It’s so new no local forces have come to monopolize it yet!”
“Not to mention how low the market value of securities is right now. It’s just a few individual small companies who’ve got their eyes on securities. Even the Kurts and Elvises only founded some small companies to dapple in securities… Are you sure this industry has a future worth investing in? We don’t have much time either…”
Rowan gave his opinion as virtual-novel.net asked curiously.
Hearing such thought, Jasper smiled. Rowan had surprised virtual-novel.net with his astute observation.
They did not have the energy or funds to truly plant their roots in Qari. All they had was a few years before the United States truly began to target Somerland. They did not have much time to come up with a backup plan in Qari.
“You’ve grown up, Rowan. Our lack of time is a crucial factor. I would agree with you if this was before, but times have changed. There’s been a few… New developments. Say, for example, if we manage to dominate the securities industry, we might just be able to control the very core of the petroleum trade.”
