"You all are the stalwarts of Montiria," he said, his voice brimming with heartfelt concern as he gently patted their shoulders. "Please, rise. In the governance of our realm, we shall rely upon you, the pillars of our nation, more than ever."
"It is no trouble at all. Serving Your Majesty is our greatest honor," one minister responded hurriedly.
"Yes, yes, Your Majesty," another quickly added. "I must attend to some family matters, so I shall take my leave now..."
The ministers, eager to escape, felt a growing dread. None of them wished to linger another moment with Gadel, whom they regarded with deep suspicion. The atmosphere in Montiria had been one of mutual respect and cordiality. Minor errors were part of the process, but now Gadel seemed poised to betray their trust.
