When Gerrard heard him cough, he instructed the servant to go upstairs and fetch an extra piece of clothing for Liam. Then he personally helped him put it on.
Liam smiled and extended his arms to slide into the sleeves.
By the time the uncle and nephew arrived, the King and several members of the royal family were already seated, waiting for them. One of them had originally gone home yesterday but, upon receiving the news, rushed back overnight.
Upon seeing Liam, everyone greeted him like he was their own kin, dropping the tough act they had put on before and trying to push him around. They were all being overly polite and a bit too flattering to the uncle-and-nephew duo.
Clearly, except for the old King and his family, everyone was unaware that Liam had been "betrayed". They all thought Liam had come to his senses and was choosing the bigger picture.
