Isabelle missed Storm Shadow wildly in an instant, but she snapped out of it quickly. She stared straight ahead expressionlessly.
The next moment, her short knife mercilessly pierced Storm Shadow’s throat. Warm blood splattered across her face.
George bought grapes as fast as possible, almost running all the way there and back. He only used a few minutes for a ten–minute trip. But, he didn’t see Isabelle waiting for him at the same place.
In the next breath, he searched for her in a panic.
Asking him to buy grapes was only an excuse to get rid of him, but facing Isabelle’s insistence, he had no choice but to comply. He wondered if she got rid of him because she sensed danger, or she didn’t want to drag him in this matter. He could only hope for the latter as he prayed for her safety.
