Before George could respond, Isabelle continued, “I don’t know how many other clones like Storm Shadow or others are waiting for me at Dark Shadow. Even if it costs my life, I must kill the leader of Dark Shadow.”
George firmly told her, “If I was afraid of dying, I wouldn’t have gone to the desert to find you back then.”
Isabelle looked at him and said nothing more.
They just stared at each other, separated by only a few feet. Maybe they were having a standoff, or perhaps they had reached a mutual understanding and agreement. Only they knew what their silence meant.
George always felt uncertain about Isabelle, fearing she would vanish the next moment. But Isabelle compromised. George was the one being stubborn.
