It wasn't because they held any special regard for him, Arthur saw that clearly. But he had no intention of drinking any more alcohol. The last time he did, the experience had left a lasting shadow.
Arthur replaced every drink with juice instead. The guests largely understood why. Many of them had seen the news and chose not to probe further.
