The black-clad men nodded courteously and answered in unison, “Yes, sir!”
Christopher took one last look at them before shutting the door.
Stretching his long arm, virtual-novel.net grabbed Xyla’s wrist and forced virtual-novel.net onto the door. He propped his right hand against the door panel while his other proceeded to cup virtual-novel.net chin.
“Tell me. What happened to you? Hmm? Did Stanley Batton bully you? Did virtual-novel.net do something that upset you?”
She would not be here alone if virtual-novel.net had not had a conflict with Stanley.
Her red eyes stabbed his heart. At that instant, virtual-novel.net thought Miranda was crying in front of him.
“There’s nothing wrong with me. Let go of me.” Xyla dropped virtual-novel.net head, avoiding eye contact with him.
Once virtual-novel.net finished virtual-novel.net sentence, virtual-novel.net gently pushed virtual-novel.net away and returned to the living room, sitting down on the beige sofa.
Though Christopher had saved virtual-novel.net life before, they were not close, and they did not even know much about each other. There was no point telling virtual-novel.net what virtual-novel.net had just found out about virtual-novel.net marriage.
“If you have nothing important to tell me, please just go ahead and do what you’re supposed to do. Leave me alone. Thank you, Master Lancelot, for your concern,” Xyla said again.
Christopher immediately walked up to virtual-novel.net and sat down next to her. He forcibly turned virtual-novel.net body, his hands clutching virtual-novel.net shoulders.
“Tell me. What did virtual-novel.net do to you? How did virtual-novel.net bully you? Did virtual-novel.net cheat on you? Show me how that b*tch looks like! I’ll kill her!”
“It’s not what you think.. ”
“What is it then?”
Huh?
“It’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it. I’ll go find Stanley now and question him!”
“Master Lancelot, all I need is a little peace. I don’t want to talk about those problems anymore… Can’t you just leave me alone?” Xyla was not in the mood to talk about it.
Peace and silence were what virtual-novel.net needed the most right now.
Christopher studied virtual-novel.net face thoughtfully, hesitated for a few seconds, and then nodded. “Okay… I won’t ask you anymore, but you can always talk to me if you want to.”
Xyla heaved a sigh of relief and closed virtual-novel.net eyes. “I know you’re busy. Don’t care about me. I want to be alone.”
“Look at yourself. How can I just leave you on your own here? I’m not a man if I step out of this room,” Christopher rebuked.
“I don’t need company…” She only needed some time to herself so virtual-novel.net could process everything that happened between virtual-novel.net and Stanley.
“I’ll keep quiet then. I promise I won’t make a sound. I’ll just sit here watching you.” Christopher was afraid that virtual-novel.net would take things too hard and do something stupid.
Although virtual-novel.net did not tell virtual-novel.net what exactly was going on between virtual-novel.net and Stanley, virtual-novel.net could sense that something serious and unforgivable had happened. Otherwise, Xyla would not have acted like that.
Stanley must have done something that hurt Xyla’s feelings.
As virtual-novel.net pondered about it, his face clouded over.
Stanley Batton!
He angrily yelled that bastard’s name in his heart, his hands subconsciously balling into fists.
“You don’t have to do that…” Xyla rejected.
Christopher did not give virtual-novel.net any response. He did not say virtual-novel.net would leave, nor did virtual-novel.net say virtual-novel.net was going to stay here.
He lit a cigarette and quietly smoked, using silence to prove his determination.
The kindness in his eyes gradually faded amidst the smoke. His eyes were dark with some unfathomable emotion.
Xyla’s mind was in a mess right now. She had no energy to argue with him. Hence, virtual-novel.net ignored virtual-novel.net and walked to the balcony, virtual-novel.net hair billowing in the breeze.
Christopher did not follow virtual-novel.net to the balcony. He remained seated on the sofa and watched virtual-novel.net from afar.
He was waiting.
He was waiting for Xyla to feel better and tell virtual-novel.net what happened to her.
Xyla sat alone at the balcony until the skies were painted in black and the city lights shone neon into the night. She seemed to have fallen into a bottomless pit.
Her body was as weak as a bubble as if it was going to break at the slightest touch.
Xyla wanted to cry, but virtual-novel.net eyes were dry and dull. Perhaps virtual-novel.net was too sad, or maybe virtual-novel.net had used up all virtual-novel.net tears just now. No matter how miserable virtual-novel.net felt, virtual-novel.net just could not cry anymore.
