“We’ve met, but virtual-novel.net still doesn’t know who I am. It’s difficult to explain certain things to you right now. Just remember that virtual-novel.net belongs to me. As for everything else, don’t say too much, and don’t ask too much, got it? Just like how I don’t get involved with your work in the entertainment industry, and haven’t exposed your identity, I hope you can treat me in the same way,” Stanley said each word sternly.
Although Josh did not understand what exactly Stanley was trying to say, virtual-novel.net nodded and did not ask any further.
“I’ve got it,” said Josh, nodding again.
“Alright, go and make things clear,” said Stanley as virtual-novel.net took out his lighter and played with it. A small flame flickered between his fingers.
“I understand, and I won’t keep thinking about my sister-in-law anymore.”
“Yeah. I hope you can keep your promise,” replied Stanley.
Getting out of the car, Josh took a deep breath before turning around and heading back into the restaurant, waving his hand as virtual-novel.net walked. He had no idea how virtual-novel.net made his way back to the room where Xyla was waiting for him.
All virtual-novel.net knew was that his legs felt weak, and somewhere deep in his heart was hurting very badly. After sorting out his emotions for a long while with his head lowered, Josh finally let out a long sigh and pushed the door open as if nothing had happened. He walked directly over to Xyla.
By then, the dishes they ordered had already been served. All of them seemed intricately prepared. However, Josh had completely lost his appetite.
Meanwhile, Xyla was elegantly slicing through the half-cooked filet in the center of virtual-novel.net plate. The way virtual-novel.net moved seemed skilled and noble. Xyla was a wonderful person, but virtual-novel.net would never belong to Josh in this lifetime. Josh tried his best to suppress the emotions virtual-novel.net was feeling.
Taking off his cap and mask, virtual-novel.net smiled at her. “I’ve thought about it. I won’t wait for you anymore.”
Forcing himself to forget about all his hopes for a relationship with Xyla was the worst feeling in the world.
Xyla was pleasantly surprised by Josh’s sudden change of mind. It felt as if somebody had lifted a heavy rock off virtual-novel.net chest. Josh must have said those things earlier in the heat of the moment. Now that virtual-novel.net had gone outside to cool off, virtual-novel.net changed his mind.
Xyla smiled faintly with a gentle twitch of virtual-novel.net brows. “I’m glad you’ve thought it through. Who were those people? Are they bodyguards employed by your family?”
“They work for my big brother,” said Josh.
“You have an older brother? There’s no mention of that in your profile.”
“Just one.”
“Is virtual-novel.net in a gangster?” asked Xyla.
“No.”
Xyla did not continue asking further. Since the man was not part of a gang, but still had so many bodyguards working for him, virtual-novel.net must be a successful person.
“Let’s eat,” said Xyla.
Josh did not say anything. Clearly not very excited, virtual-novel.net silently sliced through his steak.
“What’s wrong? What did your big brother say to you?” Xyla asked concernedly.
“Nothing… Let’s eat.” Josh did not intend to say anything else.
Xyla fell quiet and silently ate.
