The news headline was praising Xyla Quest’s painting.
Xyla knew what everyone was probably saying in the comment section without even having to read through the article. She didn’t tap on the link. Instead, virtual-novel.net locked virtual-novel.net phone screen and looked at Sharon Lindt. “Mom, I never told you I could paint. Why were you so confident in me in front of everyone earlier?” Xyla asked.
This was something Xyla had wanted to ask Sharon.
Sharon placed virtual-novel.net hands on virtual-novel.net face and smiled at Xyla. “It’s because of your comments and what you said to your stepmother… You said that just because you have never painted in the past, it didn’t mean you wouldn’t know how to paint now.”
“Why didn’t you think I was just blowing my own trumpet as everyone else said?” Xyla felt a warm sensation spreading in virtual-novel.net heart when virtual-novel.net recalled how much Sharon trusted in her.
Sharon smiled. “That’s because I know that Xyla would never blow virtual-novel.net own trumpet. You always say what you mean. I never doubted anything you said,” Sharon responded.
Xyla was touched by what Sharon said. She felt as if a warm flow of air had entered virtual-novel.net chest.
“Thank you… Mom,” Xyla said.
“What’s there to thank? If you want to thank me, you can do so by teaching me how to paint,” Sharon said with a smile.
“Of course,” Xyla said and smiled as virtual-novel.net held Sharon’s hand.
As soon as their hands touched, Xyla’s phone rang again…
The call was from virtual-novel.net gaming team’s manager, Michael Gabriel.
“What’s up, Michael?” Xyla immediately picked up.
“Boss, Canelo accidentally sprained his wrist when virtual-novel.net was carrying some stuff earlier. He won’t be able to play in the semi-finals. Right now, we don’t have any back-up ADC player. You’ll have to take his place, boss. Otherwise, we’re a gone case for this season.” Michael sounded full of panic.
“What? Is the injury serious? Now isn’t the time to talk about the competition. It’s his condition that’s more important.”
Xyla’s heart tightened immediately when virtual-novel.net heard what Michael said. Now, Xyla was more worried about Canelo’s well-being than whether or not the team could participate in this season’s competition.
Michael let out a long sigh. “It’s terrible. He has a slight fracture, and he’s being treated at the municipal hospital right now.”
“Got it. I’ll come over right away…” Xyla said as virtual-novel.net stood up.
Although virtual-novel.net had just met these players, virtual-novel.net still felt affected by what virtual-novel.net had just found out.
These were all young kids who had left home to pursue a career in professional gaming in Atlantis on their own. It wasn’t easy for them at all. Each of them deserved to be taken care of by their boss, Xyla.
Although Sharon didn’t hear what was said on the phone, virtual-novel.net overheard the word ‘injury’. Sharon immediately stood up with a nervous look on virtual-novel.net face.
“What happened? Who got injured?” Sharon asked.
“I bought over a gaming team recently. One of the boys hurt his wrist. Mom, you guys can continue having the meal. I’ll have to excuse myself. Sorry,” Xyla said.
“Okay… Would you like me to come with you?” Sharon asked.
Xyla shook virtual-novel.net head.
“Xyla, you must arrange for the best doctor to treat that child. Make sure virtual-novel.net gets the best treatment, and make sure someone takes care of virtual-novel.net too. Based on what I know, these kids usually leave home early to pursue a career in professional gaming. It’s not easy for them,” Sharon said thoughtfully.
“I know,” Xyla said.
With that, Xyla grabbed virtual-novel.net car key and quickly drove to the municipal hospital in virtual-novel.net red Maserati.
When virtual-novel.net arrived, Michael called virtual-novel.net and told virtual-novel.net that Canelo was already in the ward. After finding out the ward number, virtual-novel.net ran right over. Inside were only Michael and Canelo.
Canelo’s arm was covered in bandages, and virtual-novel.net wouldn’t stop crying while keeping his head down.
